Project Background

Yuba City has received grant funding to develop an Active Transportation Plan. This effort will update the existing 2011 Yuba City Bicycle Master Plan and broaden its scope to include pedestrian and active modes of travel more broadly to include those walking, rolling via mobility assistance devices, or other means of human powered mobility. In partnership with the community, these plans will create a vision and strategy to improve walking, biking, and rolling conditions and opportunities in Yuba City.

What is an Active Transportation Plan (ATP)?

A comprehensive vision for policies and network of trails, bike lanes, sidewalks, and other elements that connect people to where they need to go in and near Yuba City by means of walking, bicycling, rolling via mobility device, and scootering

What are the benefits of updating an ATP?

  • Identification of short- and long-term implementable projects, programs, and policies
  • Reduced death and injury on Yuba City’s streets and roads
  • Safer, more inviting neighborhoods that encourage people to walk, bike, or roll to get to local destinations such as schools, work, dining, or recreation.
  • Improving physical and mental health
  • Reducing air pollution
  • Saving money on gas and car maintenance
