Livable Streets Proposal Typologies:

Connector Streets typically have limited active land uses and intersections spaced further apart. Most support inter-city movement and some are also lined with residential neighborhoods.

Place Streets are centers of community and business, and the blocks are typically shorter with frequent crossings. People often visit these streets on foot or bicycle and the sidewalk and curbs are often used for social, dining, and other business and community functions. These are typically the streets that make Contra Costa a special place to live, do business, and visit.

Core Streets are in downtown areas or activity centers, where people visit for work, shopping, school, and recreation. Core streets are in Contra Costa's destination places, connect to regional transit centers, and move all modes, especially transit.

Neighborhood Streets (not shown on map) are typically in residential areas where people live, walk to school, and exercise. Neighborhood Streets typically have the lowest vehicle speeds and volumes, sometimes allowing bicyclists and pedestrians to share the road with vehicles.
