Help Shape the Future of Brotherhood Way

The Brotherhood Way Safety and Circulation Plan aims to make Brotherhood Way, Alemany Boulevard, and nearby streets safer and easier for everyone to use —whether you're walking, rolling, taking transit, or driving.

In 2023 and 2024 the SFCTA talked to community members and organizations. Neighbors told us about the challenges they face with the existing street design and the goals they have to improve the area.

Project Goals

  1. Prioritize Safety – Make streets safer for walking, biking, transit, and driving.
  2. Improve Connectivity – Make it easier to reach parks, transit, and businesses, especially without a car to better balance local needs with drivers passing through.
  3. Support Community Amenities and Green Spaces – Improve access to local amenities and green areas.
  4. Prepare for the Future – Recommend changes which meet neighborhood needs now and into the future, while fostering climate resilience and reducing emissions.
  5. Ensure Accountability – Ensure your voice shapes real, achievable improvements.

Your Input Matters

We're now in Phase 2 of the project. The survey below will show you several potential solutions to transportation challenges in the neighborhood. Each potential solution has different benefits and tradeoffs. We need your feedback to:

  • Understand what improvements are most important to you
  • Refine up to two alternative visions for transportation in the neighborhood which we will share for additional feedback late this year

This 15-minute survey will ask you to evaluate proposed concepts to address transportation needs. Your responses will remain confidential and will help the study team refine designs for the area.
